The stock market is really not that difficult to understand. How it works is a company issues a piece of the company called share, which someone interested in the company can invest in. The stock market is a place for sellers of shares and buyers of shares in companies to buy or sell these shares. Different stock exchanges exist, and each of them serve a purpose. But no matter what the exchange, the principal of being a place to buy or sell pieces of a company called shares is the same. While there are exceptions to the rule, usually you buy a share through a broker or through a brokerage company on the Internet to engage in the stock market.
