The only way to avoid credit card debt is to pay off the full balance of your credit card(s) every month. That means never charging something that you won't be able to pay off before your next statement date. That might sound simple, but it's not always, because sometimes you'll charge something that you think you'll be able to pay off no problems, but then you'll have another large, unexpected, unavoidable expense in the same month. That'll mean you won't be able to clear your debt, you might get charged interest, and then once you have a rolling debt there's the temptation to keep it rolling... Actually the only REAL way to avoid credit card debt is: don't get a credit card in the first place!
