There are several things to consider when researching stocks. First, you should understand the overall industry the company operates in and how it's doing at this time. Then within those parameters, find out the top companies within that sector to begin your research with. Second, research the management of the company and their track records. Finally, find out what type of competitive advantage these companies have against one another. Competitive advantage gives a company a definite edge, and the one best positioned there will have the highest results over the long term.
