To place a trade on Nymex to purchase a commodities / futures contract you would contact your broker. For investors in the United States your broker would need to be registered with the National Futures Association and most likely will have their series 3 license. If you do not have a broker you can view a listing of brokers under the referenced link below. Normally, finding the best possible price is what your broker is looking to do when executing a trade on your behalf. If you decide you want to ensure your trade is executed on Nymex then ask your broker if they can manually enter the trade so as to ensure it is routed to this specific exchange.
