A mortgage application process is not completely approved online since there are still paperwork and other documents you need to submit and provide offline. It just gets the ball rolling. However, like any other transaction online, by applying through the net you enter personal information to a third party database. If it is not legitimate, you will soon get floods of calls and emails of different offers. Just make sure that you deal with a legitimate (with a license) company.
