REIT's stand for Real Estate Investment Trusts. They are financial companies that operate by buying various types of residential, commercial, and industrial real estate and profit from rental fees and price appreciation. They are known for their stable, high dividend yields as they must distribute at least 95% of their income earned. Investors like them because it allows them to profit off of real estate in ways that would not normally be able to unless they spent a large amount of capital and invested in the properties themselves. It's never a bad idea to have a REIT be a part of your investment portfolio.
