There are numerous types of hedge funds, which are mainly categorized by the investment strategy that the hedge fund employs. Hedge funds are investment pools that are generally unregulated for accredited investors. This means that the investor has more than 1 million dollars of liquid net assets. Some of the categories of hedge funds are: Global Macro funds - this funds trades in all types of financial instruments for bonds to stocks and currencies and commodities world wide. Long short equity - these funds trade stocks and are both long and short certain stocks in a market neutral style. Credit funds, trade bonds and loans. Multi- strategy, these funds trade in many styles. There are more than 20 different types of hedge fund strategies.
