Fixed income securities are simply securities that have a definite face value and pay a stated rate of interest. Bonds and CDs are fixed income securities. These instruments pay interest, not dividends, and they can also provide capital gains and losses from trading in the secondary market. Fixed income securities are generally more appropriate for more conservative investors.
