The greatest advantage of commodities, especially in the times we live in, is they're natural resources that must be used to build things; at least for the most part. Gold could be one exception to that rule. Nonetheless, with growing middle classes in emerging markets like China and India, demand for commodities is expected to rise for many years into the future. This demand won't stop ever.
