There are 3 types of treasury bonds: T-Bills; T-Notes; and T-Bonds. T-Bills have the shortest maturity range at 1 month to 1 year. They are unique in that they don't pay interest; they are sold at a discount from par instead. T-Notes come with a maturity range of 2 to 10 years. The 10 year Note has become representative of the bond market and is the most oft quoted yeild when comparing bond rates. T-Bonds issue at the longest maturity date going up to 30 years.
