TIPS or Treasury Inflation Protected Securities are a great way to protect yourself from inflation in a very safe manner, as the investment will increase automatically based upon the movement of inflation as tracked by the consumer price index. Of course the one caveat is the safety of TIPS means you're not going to get a great return on your money, but it at least will protect you from the ravages of inflation. Overall a good investment.
