Patent attorneys act for their clients in all matters related to patents. This includes such things as: preparing and filing patent applications; preparing and filing oppositions (this is where someone disputes that the grant of a patent was valid); working on patent litigations; doing licensing work, and giving opinions (for example to a client who wants to know whether doing something might infringe a patent).
