If you forget to sign your tax return it'll delay any money you may receive, if the government owes you any. They'll send it back to, or notify you, that you need to sign it, and so you simply put off whatever results your tax return gives you. Be sure to check everything in order to ensure you've got all the required boxes filled so you don't have all the headaches and delays associated with forgetting to sign your tax return. The bottom line, unless there are legal exceptions, is if you and/or your spouse don't sign your tax return, it's not valid until you do.
