A forex broker is a person who brings a buyer and seller together in the foreign exchange market. This person would facilitate transactions in various hedging contracts. There may be a business or individual who expects to receive a foreign currency in the future and has concerns about a decrease in the value of the currency they will receive. Conversely there may be a business or individual who expects to make a payment in the future and might be concerned about an increase in the foreign currency in which they need to make a payment. There are also various strategies including options on the futures contracts. In the United States this person would typically be licensed with their series three and registered with the National Futures Association to place orders on behalf of customers.
