A franc is mostly identified as the currency of France, although the Swiss franc is also highly recognized a an important currency as well. After the introduction of the euro, the French franc was no longer considered legal tender, although the Swiss franc is one of the stronger currencies in the world. A significant number of former French colonies used the French franc as legal tender for many years.
