Bridge funding or a bridge loan is funding that is for a specific short period of time to in an effort to bridge a gap of time when funding is needed. For example, if a commercial borrower was receiving a refinance of a loan at the beginning of the year but needed funding in the month that preceded the beginning of the year, the borrower would contract bridge funding to gain access to money.
