Hazard insurance is commonly referred to as homeowners insurance. The policy is taken out by a homeowner to protect the property from certain kinds of events including fire, water, theft, structural damage, etc. The policy may also include liability insurance. You cannot purchase a home without proof of hazard insurance/homeowners insurance.
