Overdraft protection is related to your checking account in a bank. It keeps you from having a transaction stopped because of inefficient funds. Usually this is in relationshiop to using your debit card. You do have to be aware of how much money is in your account, as large fees can be assessed to you for using the service. You can make the decision on whether you want overdraft protection at any time by contacting your bank and letting them know if you wnat it or not, or if they offer it to you.
