If a dining set is in my house for the pass 20 year, and someone now claiming it back, what is the statute limitations on the issue?

The answer to this depends on what state you are in, since each state has its own set of rules regarding debt collection. It can vary anywhere from 2 to 15 years, but credit bureaus are required to remove it from your report after 7 years. Check into your particular state to determine what your statute of limitations is. If a debt collector is still attempting to sue you for a debt that has passed your state's statute of limitations, they are violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
