The Dow Jones Industrial Average is an index and one of many financial information and services provided by the current Dow Jones Enterprise Media Group. As with all indices, the components that make up the index are subject to change. As of November 6, 2009 the current 30 components that make up the index are as follows: 3M, Alcoa, American Express, AT&T, Bank of America, Boeing, Caterpillar, Chevron, Cisco, Coca-Cola, DuPont, ExxonMobil, GE, Hewlett-Packard, Home Depot, Intel, IBM, Johnson & Johnson, JPMorgan Chase, Kraft Foods, McDonald’s, Merck, Microsoft, Pfizer, P & G, Travelers, United Technologies Corp., Verizon, Wal-Mart and Walt Disney. While historically this index was created as an indicator for the industrial sector of the United States economy, clearly many of the components that make up the current index have global reach.
