There is of course no such thing as a best investment, as it depends on the age, goals and risk tolerance of the one investing. The best investment for anyone is an investment which you understand. If you don't understand what you're investing in, how will be be able to measure whether it'll do well over the long term? The answer of course is you can't. Another aspect of the best investment, as far as stock goes, is how strong the company is against its competition, and what its competitive advantage is. These two elements are the most important as far as the best investment available. In the end, the best investment is one you feel comfortable with, understand, and fits into your risk tolerance.
