If you are looking to get a loan to purchase a home or refinance an existing home you can contact your bank, a mortgage banker or mortgage broker. There are benefits and drawbacks of each so it is best that you do some shopping around. Ask your friends, co workers and family if the know anyone they can refer you to.

The best place to get a mortgage loan is wherever you can. But of course the most likely place to get it is from a bank. Now that we're in the financial crisis and credit crunch, credit standards have been raised by banks, so while you can still get a mortgage loan, it's more difficult and you'll need great credit and meaningful down payment. The standards are a little less when you qualify for an FHA loan.
