Obviously the easiest way to buy antiques is from an antiques dealer. They typically have showrooms where you can peruse all manner of goods -- often they're a kind of 'Aladdin's Cave' of weird and wonderful artifacts from decades and centuries past. Antiques dealers are also a knowledgeable bunch and can give you a lot of interesting advice and information about your prospective purchases. On the other hand, you're unlikely to walk away with a bargain. Antiques dealers make money by buying from places like deceased estates and auctions, and reselling what they buy at a premium. If it's a bargain you're after, you're better off doing your antique hunting at places like car boot sales, garage sales, auctions (both physical and online), and at antiques fairs and markets. Any of these options will afford more possibility of finding a bargain, but of course at places like car boot sales and garage sales you'll need more patience because there'll be a lot of junk, and more knowledge because the good stuff won't always be obvious. In general, it's fair to say that to buy great antiques you need either money or time, and sometimes both.
