This is a difficult question to answer because it definitely depends on the type of business you're in. For example, it's been proven that the best place for retail stores to open is around other retail stores. That's why in so many cities you see them all bunched together in certain locations. It seems counterintuitive to do it, but the added foot traffic easily makes up for the competition. Other businesses like manufactures would want to be located near major highways in order to cut back on transportation cost. As you can see from these examples, there's no one best location for a business. You need to look at the sector you're in and the market you serve to determine the best location. In the case of an Internet business, location is no factor at all, and you can successfully run one from almost anywhere in the world.
