The problem with identifying the best savings interest rates in America is the rules regarding whether you can partake in them or not. For example, there are a number of regional banks which give you great interest rates like North Middlesex Savings Bank, but you can only open an account within a defined area and cities. So while they offer a great rate, if you don't live there it does you no good. Nationally the best rates I've been able to find are from EverBank, which offers 1.77 percent, and 2.51 percent over a three-month period for new customers.
