A mortgage broker has access to dozens, if not hundreds, or different financial companies. A loan officer usually only has access to one. Mortgage Brokers also get paid strictly off of commission so they will do anything to get the deal done for you. Which can also be bad thing if you aren't careful who you hire. A mortgage broker is typically used by people who aren't perfect borrowers. They may have bad credit, or little money to put down. A mortgage broker can put you in touch with a lender that may have less restrictive requirements when it comes to your particular circumstances.
