Boeing (NYSE:BA) Leads Dow Higher

Boeing (NYSE:BA) led the Dow industrials higher today, with the Dow reaching 10,773 and change, the highest levels in over a year and a half.

This isn't just a one-day thing for Boeing though, as it is the highest performing stock in 2010 for the Dow, gaining a yearly high of $70.81, and holding there as of this writing. Boeing could close higher than it has since summer 2008.

While the Dow Jones industrial average was gaining, the Standard & Poor's 500 Index during that same period, while the Nasdaq Composite Index posted gains as well.

Several sources of economic data didn't do a lot to generate positive activity in the markets, as even though factory activity increased beyond expectations, new orders dropped, meaning this is still about replenishment rather than a growing economy.

Consumer prices were also level, showing they're still tight with their spending and prices aren't able to be increased any time soon. Margins will remain lower than normal until that happens.

This also confirms there will be no interest rate increase any time soon by the Federal Reserve as well, as it would put even more pressure on companies who continue to struggle to generate meaningful and sustainable sales.

For the Dow, this is the seventh day in a row it has been in the positive, the longest winning stretch since August 2009.
