In foreign exchange terminology, the Euro refers to the consolidated currency of the countries of the European Union that currently participate in its monetary union system. The currency has the ISO 4217 code EUR, and it is most commonly-traded in the forex market as the base currency against the U.S. Dollar as the pair EUR/USD.
The E.U.ís Euro is one of the major currencies traded in the forex market. It usually trades against the U.S. Dollar in the forex market, but also trades actively as a cross against the U.K.ís Pound Sterling, the Swiss Franc and the Japanese Yen.
