In Stock market terminology, the term Stock Quote refers to an indication of the market price for the particular stock that the price is being obtained for. A Stock Quote typically comes with a bid price and an offer price, with the difference known as the spread.

For example, all that is necessary to obtain a Stock Quote is to know the stock symbol or the name of the company and enter the acronym or the company name into a search engine on the Internet. Several brokerage websites will have the quotes posted; although, the quotes will often be delayed by a certain amount of time due to the proprietary nature of the quotes. The quote is typically received in two parts: the bid side, which gives the highest price which someone will pay for the stock, and an offer side which will show the lowest price available for the sale of the stock.
