What is the Money Market?

Not a market per se, a money market is often used as another name for cash that pays some interest. Technincally, a money market is a full open-end mutual that buys and sells short term fixed income of all varieties. They often hold treasury bonds, commercial paper, private debt and other short-maturity securities. The average maturity of fixed income bonds within a money market is generally around 18 days.
