AMR Corporation (NYSE: AMR) or as it's usually identified through it key subsidiary, American Airlines, was officially incorporated in 1930 as American Airways, after a number of independent airlines having worked together as a single brand in the years leading up to incorporation and becoming one company.
Along with its airline passenger service, AMR also operates air freight carrier services, including mail, along with the freight for shippers.
Via their Eagle Holding Corporation, the company also offers services from major cities to smaller markets across North America, Mexico, and the Caribbean. That service is branded as American Eagle.
American Airlines has been attempting to expand in the Asian market for several years, but in each circumstance, to the date of this writing, has been very unsuccessful at each attempt. Their latest foray into the market has been to have routes connected to Japan.
