Intel has has a checkered history concerning acquisitions, with many not being shuttered or spun off as they ended up conflicting with their core business. Recent major acquisitions include Wind River Systems Inc.and RapidMind, which look like they could pan out for the tech giant.
Sales for Intel has soared in Asia, especially in Taiwan, which accounts over 25 percent of net sales at the company, with China next at 13.2 percent, Japan at 10.6 percent and the Asia/Pacific at 11.2 percent. Europe accounts for 18.9 percent of sale and the U.S. 14.5 percent.
Based on revenue, Intel is the largest maker of chips and semiconductors in the world.
The company is based in Santa Clara, California.
