KO - Coca Cola
Coca Cola (NYSE: KO) was founded in 1886 by pharmacist John Pemberton, who brought it to Jacobs' Pharmacy, a business nearby to where he did his work, and started selling the beverage, which his bookkeeper Frank Robinson ended up naming Coca-Cola.
Pemberton died in 1888, having no idea the extraordinary events he has introduced into the world, and the business that would emerge. Asa Griggs, a businessmen based in Atlanta ended up buying the rights to the business for $2,300, and as they say, the rest is history.
Today the Coca-Cola Company continues to manufacture the original Coca-Cola, which still is one of the most closely guarded secrets in the business world as to the contents its makeup. The company now sells a variety of flavors including Cherry Coke, Vanilla Coke, and others like lime, raspberry, lemon and orange, which target different markets.
Coca-Cola remains one of the most recognizable brands in the world, and is able to defend it strongly against all competitors.
Overall the Coca-Cola Company sells its beverages in over 200 countries.
