Palladium is a fairly rare precious metal, and based upon demand, always attracts investors' interest. The major countries producing palladium are Russia, Canada, South Africa and the United States. Russia accounts for approximately 50 percent of the global share of palladium, which primary use is in catalytic converters, for automobiles. The supply of palladium is always a concern for the auto industry, and many attempts at stockpiling has been detrimental, as it is bought many times at highs, and the company suffers immensely when prices fall and they lose a lot of money.
