If traded properly, options can provide many benefits to an investment portfolio. They can provide quick profits for those who buy them long in the same direction that the market is heading, or they can provide a steam of steady income for conservative investors. They can also allow investors to make money when the markets are flat, or when the investor feels that the market will move radically in one direction or the other, but is unsure which way it will go.
