British Opposition Leader David Cameron Says Labour Party on Wrong Side of Workers and Business

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

At a time when the need for lower costs of doing business is vital for a sustainable economic recovery in the U.K., the Labour party has plans to raise the National Insurance rates.

In response, British opposition leader David Cameron said Labour is on "on the wrong side" in this for British businesses and workers.

The conservative Tory party says they will fight to stop the increase in National Insurance rates, with many businesses joining in supporting their efforts.

Labour leaders say there is a need to increase in rates in light of the record deficits they face, and say there would have to be significant cuts in public spending if increases weren't put in place.

As typical with big-government politicians, the Labour party just can't see the value in allowing or eliminating public programs which aren't sustainable. If you can't afford it than limit the size of government and its programs and allow the markets to determine the outcomes.

Cameron said, "Who do you believe? Business leaders who run some of Britain's biggest and best businesses, who every week, every month, every year have to get rid of unnecessary costs in order to provide a good service or Alistair Darling and Gordon Brown who doubled the national debt? I would put my faith in British business leaders who say the Conservatives have got it right."

He was referring to the increasing number of businesses lining up with them in support of holding costs where they are.

This is going to be a huge problem in the years ahead, and not just for the British. Politicians can't continue to make promises, spend money, and create programs which aren't economically sustainable. There's a time when the limit is reached and it becomes counterproductive for everybody. That seems to be the case here, and it's time for the British governments and other governments to rein in their spending and become disciplined and controlled in their planning.

Endlessly printing and spending money, which creates huge deficits shouldn't be something the people of any country should have to pay for, and yet here we are with Labour wanting to do just that. I don't think they're going to get away with it this time around.
