In commodity market terminology, Gulf Coast Harbor Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel refers to a diesel fuel futures contract traded on the New York Mercantile Exchange or NYMEX. Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel is a new standard for highway diesel fuel in the United States that will take effect across the nation as of December, 2010.

The NYMEX’s Gulf Coast Harbor Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel futures contract trades under the symbol LU and its base unit is 1,000 barrels or 42,000 U.S. gallons. Contracts are also traded on the CME’s Globex. Delivery on the contract is into the Colonial Pipeline at a variety of injection stations, with Pasadena and Houston, Texas being the primary locations.
