An angel investor, in Venture Capital terminology, refers to an investor which differs from a venture capitalist primarily because the angel provides the financing out of their own funds. A venture capitalist, on the other hand, must answer to third party investors who have contributed to their venture capital fund. While funds provided by the venture capitalist are public knowledge, funds provided by an angel investor can be kept private because the source of the funds coming from a private party need not be disclosed.
