Matilda Bond

Matilda Bond Meaning:
A bond denominated in Australian dollars and issued in the Australian market by a non-Australian issuer. Also known as a kangaroo bond.

Bonds issued by an entity in a non-domestic market are known as ‘foreign issuer bonds.’ Issuing bonds in a non-domestic market might be done for a number of different reasons, but one is simply to access investment capital in those non-domestic markets.
