HPQ - Hewlett Packard
Hewlett-Packard Company (HPQ) was founded in 1939 by Bill Hewlett and David Packard in a garage, which has become legendary in the computer and tech industry.
The tech company has a variety of product lines included computers, digital devices, televisions, servers and storage businesses. Consulting is also a growing and important part of the services they offer.
While it still designs and sells computers, the company has been moving from that focus to other areas not considered a commodity by many consumers and businesses.
Evidence of this is some of their many acquisitions, which since the beginning of 2008 include Exstream Software, TOWER Software, Colubris Networks, Electronic Data Systems, LeftHand Networks Inc., IBRIX, Inc. and 3 Com.
Even though it still sells hardware, software and tech services has become its core business and future.
Hewlett-Packard continues to have its headquarters in Palo Alto, California, where it was originally launched.
