OXY - Occidental Petroleum


Occidental Petroleum (NYSE: OXY), an oil and gas exploration and production company, was founded in 1920.

The three major business lines of the company are Oil and Gas; Chemical; and Midstream, Marketing, and Other.

First listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1964, they have split the stock twice, a 2-for-1 stock split on July 20, 2006, and a 3-for-1 stock split on January 29, 1968.

Through its many subsidiaries which are branded as OxyChem, Occidental Petroleum has expanded its manufacturing business in North America in basic chemicals, vinyls and a number of specialty chemical products. They are also the largest producers of Calcium Chloride and Cuastic potash in the world.

Major acquisitions include a 50% interest in oil and gas properties in the Permian and Piceance Basins, production assets from Vintage Petroleum and Altura Energy, LTD.
