The birth of Xerox (NYSE:XRX) can be traced back to 1906 when a company which manufactured photographic paper and equipment was launched with the name: "The Haloid Photographic Company." Ultimately that name was changed to Haloid Xerox in 1958 and finally to just Xerox in 1961.
Through its three major business segment it operates in: Production, Office and Other, Xerox researches, develops and manufactures a number of document equipmpent products, software and services across the globe. They also have a strong service and financing business to complement their sales.
Products from the company are marketed through dealers, direct sales, independent agents, dealers and value-added resellers.
Major acquisitions include Veenman B.V., Global Imaging Systems, Inc., Irish Business Systems, Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. and XMPie.
