What are Angel Investors?

A first or second round investor into a new business venture that involves extremely high risk and ownership returns that may or may not develop into any value. Angels, so-named because they are the only investors willing to take on this risk, come in once the friends and family resources of a new venture are exhausted. Angels often invest directly into the company and so their funding tends to be extremely localized. Their investment may have no value or become extremely valuable.
